Basso Celestia offers a chamber ensemble program centered upon François Couperin’s stunning Leçons de Ténèbres (Lessons for Tenebrae). Originally intended to be a larger work encompassing all the Tenebrae lessons for Monday through Wednesday of Holy Week, this set of three lessons is all that are extant. The work is scored for soprano soloists and continuo.
